Kaitlyn Kohler Biography

Texas-based singer-songwriter Kaitlyn Kohler has been making a name for herself in Texas Country music over the last few years, and has gathered many accolades along the way. When listening to her first album release back in 2018, Michael Allsup, the original guitar player of Three Dog Night, had this to say— “I never thought I’d hear something as passionate as what Linda Ronstadt did, but I heard it today”.

Since then, Kaitlyn has released four singles, three of which breaking the top 10 on the Texas charts, and her current single well on its way.
Her single Break Another Heart, which she penned with award winning songwriter Bobby Terry, was her first to reach #1. Kaitlyn has also written with many other award winning writers such as Dean Dillon, Marla Cannon Goodman, and Don Rollins, and has released multiple songs written by Jason Matthews as well. Her music has also notched two nominations for New Female Vocalist of the Year and one for Female Vocalist of the Year for the Texas Regional Radio Awards on her belt.

Through her success, Kaitlyn has not lost sight of why she started doing music in the first place. Kaitlyn first felt her calling to music in high school. She knew it was God giving her a clear sense of the way forward. The only problem was that she was being called to get in front of a microphone. Having grown up with a severe anxiety disorder, being in the spotlight was the last place she ever wanted to be.

– “I told God, wait a minute, you gotta be kidding me… right? Everything the job entails is stuff I’ve tried to avoid my whole life, there’s no way that I can do this! Then He told me, ‘I know you can’t, but I can’. So I said fair enough, and that was that. Since then, God has opened doors for me that I never thought possible, and He is the only one I can give credit to for every success I’ve had. Now when I get on stage, I feel alive and like I’m meant to be there, and I love getting to connect with and entertain people.”

Kaitlyn’s sense of mission is clear: to inspire others like her who might feel overwhelmed and incapacitated from similar feelings, and that if she can do it, so can they.

Kaitlyn was born in Corpus Christi, Texas; she moved a lot as a child due to her father being in the Navy, but she came back to Dallas for college and now resides in Beaumont. As she stated in her article for Texas Hot Country: “Texas has always been the one place that has felt like home. And I love Beaumont…I love the friends and family and the church that I have built up here.” Kaitlyn’s love of Texas extends to her love of country. “I grew up listening to the classics. I had a huge admiration for the women especially, being a little girl myself, like Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Shania Twain, and later on Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. They have definitely influenced my music and I still look up to them today.”

Kaitlyn’s newest release, I’m Not Crying, was written by Buck Johnson, the current keyboardist and vocalist for Aerosmith, and Nashville singer-songwriter Alice Bargeron. The song has a powerful and uplifting message, with lyrics such as “I may be broken, but I will mend” expressing to listeners to move on from a depressing situation, and become stronger for it. Kaitlyn offered some inside info on the experience- “I had the incredible opportunity to write with Buck last summer, he’s such a sweet, down to earth guy. It was an awesome experience and I learned so much from him. A few weeks later he reached out to my manager, Charles Vessels, and said he had some songs he thought would suit me, and asked if I’d like to sing them. Uh, absolutely! What else was I going to say? So I went back to his house and we recorded two, one of which being I’m Not Crying.” Kaitlyn added with a laugh- “I am so thankful and beyond excited about this whole experience; I grew up listening to Aerosmith and it’s still one of my favorite bands to this day, and the fact I got to meet, write, and record with one of the members just blew my mind!”
I’m Not Crying is available to stream on all platforms.

–“I would not be able to do what I’m doing without the support of my family, friends, and fans. Because of your support, I am able to do what I love, and it makes me so happy that so many others love my music as well.”
