India Electric Co.

These “sessions” programmes are a great idea to get solid local backing for events they might not otherwise consider. The venue was good in terms of the performance hall, with a combination of raked seating and cabaret style at the front of the room. The rest of the venue was perhaps a little cramped. But we were there for India Electric Co., who excelled as always. By this sixth show of their current tour they have got nicely into the groove of their setlist and they combine great professionalism musically with a comfortable level of interaction with the audience. The set is a carefully crafted mix of tracks from the new album “Pomegranate”, perennial fan favourites from the previous studio recordings and a couple of popular covers. Cole Stacey’s unique vocal sound is very strong on this tour and combines brilliantly with the genius musicianship of bandmate Joseph O’Keefe and recently added drummer Russell Field. I’ve seen the band well over 100 times and never heard anyone come away disappointed.

India Electric Co. get better with every show. With just a few festival sets since their “Pomegranate” album launch show in April, this was a very tight performance, which the excellent audience at the Live Room thoroughly enjoyed. The set heavily features the new album, alongside a few perennial favourites that they dare not leave out. A first play of the track “Balancing Act” accompanied new favourites like “Glass Houses”, “Cascade” and “After the Flood”, alongside “Parachutes”, “Heimat”, “Eyes and Tears”, this time on mandolin and violin, and “Without Lisa”, with which Cole Stacey and Joseph O’Keefe kick off the second half of the show before they are once again joined by drummer Russell Field for the remainder of the set. There are tickets for most of the remaining shows on the tour which resumes next week, which no-one will regret buying.

Wonderful uplifting evening hearing the new album Pomegranate, fabulous musicians

An outstanding one-off performance by the band to launch their third studio album, in front of a home audience which also included fans who’d travelled long distances in the U.K. and some from overseas! The first half of the show was mainly devoted to tracks from the new album, including the title track “Pomegranate” and an interesting live adaptation of the equally memorable “Balancing Act”. Drummer Russell Field’s brought a jazzy feel to his favourite track, “Glass Houses”, and Cole Stacey’s vocal skills came to the fore on “Cascade” and what now seems like an old favourite “After the Flood”. Slightly in the background, where he seems most comfortable, but drawing everything together is the brilliant Joseph O’Keefe. The person next to me asked if there was any instrument he can’t play and I couldn’t think of an answer, though I have never seen him with a woodwind instrument! The second half of the show included tracks from their earlier recordings, a collection of fan favourites that they dare not leave out of any live performance, though they are constantly evolving. Cole and Joe aka India Electric Co are two of the most talented musicians on the planet. I can listen to their music for hours on end, the instruments they play have been abandoned by the majority of today's musicians. The words are meaningful and the music is unique and easy to listen to. Cole's voice is as smooth as silk, his dulcet tones coupled with the vast array of instruments put them head and shoulders above the rest. They are worth every penny and I am happy to travel any distance to see them whenever I can. Love them!

Great evening, very talented musicians.

Having played here three times in the last 12 months, Joe and Cole are very much local favourites and delivered 45+ minutes of exceptional music with their unique take on using traditional instruments, like the violin and mandolin, in a very contemporary way. Brilliant musicians.

India Electric Company are brilliant!! Only thing better would be longer of them playing their own set

Brilliant as always, every time I see IEC (which is often) they are even better than before. Their version of “Drive” is outstanding and their own material sophisticated and interesting. They switch effortlessly into accompanying Midge on tunes that are older than they are! Highly recommended to anyone, whether you think you like folk music or not.

Fantastic show, extremely talented guys and a beautiful location! It was worth driving all the way from Germany!
