Down On Earth

Down On Earth is a pop-rock band from Zurich. The lyrics of the songs are critical reflections on contemporary issues that question the status quo. The band was founded in 2017 by lead singer and guitarist Andrea Lorefice after he returned from his street music project “Busking Through Europe”. He travelled through Europe for six months with his acoustic guitar and played music on the streets of the continent's major cities. Andrea quickly found himself in the band room of drummer Dennis Mettler and was joined by pianist Luca Rüedi and bassist Alan Tucci.

The release for their first EP “Until The Moment Has Passed” was held at the sold-out venue Werk 21 in Zurich, where they raised money for the non-profit organisation Viva con Agua. The songs on this record deal with conflicts and connections between people, with love and passion, with fears and distance.

Three new singles will be released in summer 2024: the first single, Lullaby, addresses the longing for a hopeful future and captures the dreams and resilience of those striving for a better life. Loud and angry, Predicament criticises the fast fashion industry, addressing the environmental and social costs of our consumer choices. Lastly, Inheritance deals with the legacy we will leave for future generations. The song emphasises the urgent need for environmental awareness and social responsibility. Three topics where small individual actions are at least as relevant as a comprehensive change in today's habits and norms.
