John Acosta Biography

Artist/Songwriter/Producer John Acosta is recognized as a prolific and versatile songwriter in Pop, R&B, Funk, & Latin genres. His career began as one half of Pop duo AcostaRussell, and after two album releases , John then became an EMI staff songwriter/producer. His songwriting aims to merge artistry with commercial intent. “Having been an artist first allows to me bring these qualities to my co-writing. I adore and respect the craft of songwriting in any style , and when mixed with honesty it knocks me out!” This conviction landed John three cuts on the debut album by EMI/ARISTA’s Pop duo “SKY”. Their double Platinum “Piece of Paradise” Lp included his hit single “All I Want”. He also wrote songs for: Popstars 1&2, Sugar Jones, Velvet Empire, Canadian Idol winner Ryan Malcolm, Toya Alexis, Pop/jazz artist Carol Welsman, and Latin artist George Lamond. He co-wrote/produced latin R&B artist Eduardo del Prado for Warner Bros France. It included 1st single "Siento El Calor" John just recently scored 2 song cuts plus production work on Japans Recording Pop Artist /Actor "Yamashito Tomahisa" debut on Johnny's Entertainment records.
