About this concert
Representing the South Indian classical Carnatic music tradition, Aruna Sairam is one of the most prominent Indian vocalists of our generation. Sairam’s concert is a rare opportunity to experience a diverse array of raga (melodies), tala (rhythms), languages, and improvisational songs in the Carnatic repertoire. Sairam will be joined by Rohan Krishnamurthy on mridangam percussion and Kamalakiran Vinjamuri on violin, two leading artists in the South Asian diaspora.
Nistha Raj, Founder of District of Raga: “Aruna Sairam’s exceptional vocal prowess, global outreach, and dedication to preserving classical heritage not only enrich the musical landscape but also bridge cultural divides, making her an ambassador for both Indian classical music and cross-cultural artistic exchange”.
