She was honored to collaborate with Flutist Monica Williams in 2019 on an album that charted on Billboard. Kathy Parsons (Mainly Piano) wrote, "Many of her pieces have a quiet hymn-like quality." Steve Sheppard (OWMR in the UK) recently said, "She has a style that is gentle and artistically clever" Lynn's music can be heard on Pandora, Sirius XM, Spotify, domestic and international airlines & many radio stations around the globe. She is a member of the Whisperings Solo Piano family and her music is included on both Whisperings Solo Piano Radio and Solo Piano Christmas. Perpetual Motion Like all the best love stories, Perpetual Motion began with a little white lie. An award-winning rock guitarist met an enchanting classically trained violin player at a party and asked her to help him record some guitar-violin duo songs he had written. She agreed, curious about him, and with his heart in his throat he sprinted home to get started writing those violin parts. 25 years later Tom and Josie are still writing music for each other, music that ignores genre in favor of freedom. Perpetual Motion exists in the spaces between music from everywhere: a vibrant blend of Central and South American folk, progressive jazz, and blues. Tom’s deep beat of classic rock and Josie’s complex thrill of gypsy violin work together to wrap around your core and make you want to move. They move in vibrant counterpoint: composed and improvised, local and worldwide, profoundly present and ethereally moving. Josie Quick was classically trained at the University of Denver and teaches at one of the preeminent community music education organizations in the country, Swallow Hill Music. Tom Carleno won Best Instrumental Album at the 2014 Zone Music Awards. And so, the love story continues: Josie and Tom creating Perpetual Motion.

Perpetual Motion Biography

Determined to break the mold of typical acoustic guitar and violin music, Perpetual Motion dives into blues, rock, jazz, and world music. For Tom and Josie, everything is an inspiration.

“I can't say enough good things about Perpetual Motion. Every concert I've attended has been outstanding. Whether it's in front of 200 people at Swallow Hill Music or 40 at Mercury Cafe Denver, they always deliver. Tom Carleno and Josie Quick are outstanding musicians. Their music is like taking a journey around the world. They incorporate the styles of samba, bossa nova, calypso, flamenco, Django-style hot jazz, and rock into their songs. The emotion they convey through their songs is real and heartfelt.”- Chuck Montera

“Remarkably, Perpetual Motion does exactly what their name says. From the moment the lights come up on them, they are engaged with their audience, sweeping them along on a quick trip around the world. It’s rare and beautiful to see a whole room of vastly different people moving together, leaving their everyday world behind, and being carried, up and away by Perpetual Motion’s lively melodies and expert musicianship. Perpetual Motion creates an escape and brings their audiences with them on a rising wave of fun, beauty, and connection until the very last note. – Hanna Ackerman, Concert director, Swallow Hill Music

“Spend a few minutes in person with PERPETUAL MOTION members Josie Quick and Tom Carleno and you will see their unique and undeniable chemistry as a couple, each playing off the other with the same quirky sense of humor, quick smile, and easy-going nature. That same chemistry is instantly apparent when they perform instrumentally live as well. Josie’s violin and Tom’s guitar pirouette around the other in a delightful dance of in-sync simpatico. Whether you see them in concert or hear one of their albums, you will hear more than enough virtuosity to instill admiration and respect for their talent.” -Saul Rosenthal, Founding member of Rocky Mountain Jewgrass and owner, The Denver Folklore Center
