Mark your calendars, Dolly lovers everywhere -- on October 20th, we will gather to celebrate the legendary Dolly Parton.
There will be one local and extremely well-loved band, Sundae Crush, playing a glorious set of their own originals with some Dolly peppered in. And for the rest of the evening, you will witness a Dolly Worship Hour featuring some QUITE talented Dolly lovers performing Dolly songs, drag, performances and whatever expression they feel themselves drawn to (let's get weird)! This hour of sweet, sweet Dolly will run Grand Ole Opry-style, with the hosting talents of the world-famous *Boy Acuff* and friends.
Sundae Crush - ”…BEING A TECHNICOLOR COW-POKE HAS NEVER SPURRED SO MUCH GLITZ AND GLAM AS IT DOES WITH SUNDAE CRUSH’S ARSENAL OF TOY GUN BANGERS.”
- FORREST CAMIRE, KZAX
After costuming reimbursements for performers, proceeds from the show will be split between two amazing organizations: Rain City Rock Camp of Seattle and the Out in the South LGBTQIA+ Issues Fund.
Rain City Rock Camp: RCRC combines music education, gender-responsive programming, and a commitment to positive social change. They use music as a vehicle with the goals to empower participants to take risks, question norms, and build their identities and communities. They center and support youth and adults of marginalized genders, both in the content of our programming and in the identities of the mentors who are a part of the community. Participants in RCRC's programs receive instrument instruction from local musicians and write, rehearse and perform original songs with the support of mentors. Visit www.raincityrockcamp.org to find out more.
Out in the South: An initiative of Funders for LGBTQ Issues, Out in the South aims to transform philanthropy in the U.S. South to honor the fact that LGBTQIA2S+ people and families are a part of every community in the region. Visit lgbtfunder.org to learn more.
