Under the baton of Music Director James Durham, Maui Pops Orchestra invites you to ring in the holidays with a festive concert featuring 3-time Grammy® winner Kalani Pe’a.
The Hawaiian singer/songwriter has also won multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards including in 2023 for his “Purple Hawaiian Christmas”. Music from this album will be featured with full orchestral backup, along with other holiday favorites.
A special treat will be hula provided by members of award-winning Hālau o ka Hanu Lehua.

Kalani Pe‘a’s Hawaiian Christmas show is a celebration of the warmth and special aloha of the Holiday Season, sharing much-loved songs from both western and Hawaiian roots. A three-time Grammy winner (3 CD releases, 3 Grammys!), Kalani is a charismatic performer with a gorgeous voice, powerful nad charming apresence, and captivating style not-to-be-missed. The first Hawaiian performer presented at Lincoln Center's American Songbook (it sold-out), he was recognized by his Hawai‘i peers at the Na Hoku Hanohano (Hawai‘i’s “Grammy”) Awards, winning honors for both Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year. His 5 Na Hoku wins include Christmas Single of the Year in 2021, and his most recent CD, Purple Hawaiian Christmas, took home the Na Hoku Award for Contemporary Album of the Year.
Self-described as “Hawaiian contemporary soul”, Kalani’s dynamism and charm, vocal brilliance, and range of songs from Hawaiian to R&B has brought him to the forefront of Hawaiian music for both traditionalists and a new generation. This past year, Kalani released his first Christmas album for the holiday season.

Kalani P’ea Concert @ UC Irvine Barclay Center.
This Concert was a delight. Kalani is very talented and he definitely entertained and engaged the audience. I appreciated his sharing of each songs inspiration and meaning immediately before he performed which helped non Hawaiian speaking guests understand w/o knowing the Hawaiian language - which is such a sweet and soothing language to hear in song. I loved how he honored his roots and others who have left their mark on the music world.
The Graceful and oh so Beautiful Hula Dancers from Halau Na Mano O Pana’ewa made the live music even better! Even Mom shared her talents through dance which was so heartwarming to watch.
The venue was very nice. Every seat in the house was a great seat. Even from the back row You felt up close and personal Parking was close by and readily available.
Thanks for a wonderful evening of song snd dance. If you have an opportunity to attend a future concert in your area I highly recommend you do so.

Three-time Grammy Award Winner (2017, 2019, 2022) and Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award Winner Singer/Songwriter Kalani Pe’a brings his amazing talent to the Heard Museum during one of the biggest weeks in the Valley of the Sun. Visitors from around the globe will be in Phoenix to attend Super Bowl LVII and the Waste Management Phoenix Open, and all will be invited to travel vicariously from the Sonoran Desert to the Hawaiian Islands via the golden waves of Kalani Pe’a’s voice.
Pe’a’s third release Kau Ka Pe’a garnered his 3rd Grammy win in Regional Roots. He took home his 2nd Grammy Award in 2019 for his second CD No ‘Ane’i [We Belong Here], a release that hit #1 on iTunes World Music Charts and #11 on Billboard’s World Music Charts. His debut album E Walea won him his first Grammy® Award in 2017 for “Best Regional Roots Music Album,” which also received the 2017 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award (Hawai‘i’s “Grammy”) for Best Hawaiian Contemporary Album, making Hawaiian music history as the only album ever to win both a Grammy and Nā Hōkū. His newest album, “Purple Hawaiian Christmas,” is out now across all digital platforms.

February 2020 saw his New York debut, at a sold-out performance at Jazz at Lincoln Center for Lincoln Center’s American Songbook, the first Hawaiian artist to be featured on the series. His original song He Lei Aloha (No Hilo) was also featured on NBC’s Little Big Shots hosted by Melissa McCarthy, sung by Keala Suttle (The Greatest Showman) and danced by Hunnay Demello, and his recording of He Lei Aloha (No Hilo) was featured on the 2021 Netflix release Finding ‘Ohana. In 2019, he made his debut appearance at the prestigious Merrie Monarch hula competition, with an original song for Hula Halau ‘O Kamuela, the group that went on to win top honor at the competition.
