About this concert
Join me, Pat McGee in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina for 4 days & 4 nights at my boutique music getaway, Down The Hatch. This is the 14th year for DTH and after the delicious lemonade we all collectively made out of the weather lemons Mother Nature dropped on us in ’23, I just know we’re in for the best DTH ever. Cheers to being back on the beach, under the sunny skies, our toes in the sand, diving in the cool ocean, feelin’ the warm evening breezes, it’s all coming back in ’24 my friends. Destination Perfection! If you are new to Down The Hatch, yes, we refer to it as "DTH", here’s a little background on why I decided to create such a boutique event. Anyone who knows me, is well aware of my passion for sharing anything and everything that I love. Humbly, I would say I also have a knack for putting people together that I know will create authentic and inspiring moments that can only happen at DTH. This extends far beyond just musicians. When the right people get to know one another with shared affections, I truly believe, and have seen all kinds of magic happen. DTH’s mission is to give artists that I find to be truly amazing, an uninterrupted platform to do, what they do so uniquely well, to new ears, eyes and hearts. No artists performs the same time as anyone else’s set. So your job as the attendee, is just to sit back in your beach chair, crack a cold one, enjoy the tunes, feel the ocean breezes & sunny rays and… exhale. Oh and at night, kick up your heels (or toss your flip flops in the corner) in the ballroom for the full band rock shows, theme nights and the never-fail best-time-ever…Headphone Disco with artist guest DJ’s. Take morning strolls on the beach or join us at our fast growing wellness portion of DTH: the workouts, mediations and yoga that is offered before the start of each day. Or simply sleep the morning away. Life is grand at DTH. Perhaps what I am most proud of, and an unexpected bonus of DTH is the community that formed organically. Friends come back each year and reunite in OBX for something that is just too magical to explain. These attendess are some of the most welcoming and caring individuals I have ever performed for. In recent years, we are seeing couples bringing their kids, which is a beautiful thing. Last DTH during Headphone Disco I had a mean air guitar duel with one kiddo who crushed me. (#McDonald/McGeeRematch2024). I awarded him with my silver necklace. He deserved it. ; My DTH team and I have created a chill environment where musicians and Hatchers simply hang out together on the beach and throughout the hotel for the duration of DTH. I’ve been saying it for years: There simply is nothing like Down The Hatch. Year after year, I strive to bring you the joy of discovery and make your time in Kill Devil Hills, NC as laid back as possible. We keep it intimate, having less than 300 folks (including all the artists and staff), so you’ll be on a first-name basis with nearly everyone by the time you leave. ------------ For 14 years now I have been looking to bring in something/someone special to partner with the unique family that is the DTH community. After performing for The Life Ring Foundation’s event in Roanoke, VA this past summer, the answer was clear. They are moving mountains every day to fight kids’ cancer. Me being a father of 4 children, I can only imagine the hardships that families go through when facing a diagnosis such as cancer in their young children, not to mention the grueling treatment journey that is severely underfunded in the U.S. & around the world. The Life Ring Foundation is dedicated, I’ve witnessed this firsthand, to building a new, world class treatment center in Roanoke, VA so that families locally, in addition to Southwest Virginia areas, far and wide, can get the care they so desperately need right in their community. Right now, children diagnosed with cancer do not have the resources, treatment, and weapons they need to win the war, and The Life Ring Foundation’s Fighting Kids Cancer campaign has a goal to change that narrative. I was incredibly moved by their dedication, so, with your help, I am very proud to be donating $25 of every ticket sold at DTH to their cause. As an official Life Ring Foundation Ambassador, I hope you will join me in learning more about them and helping in any additional way you can. (GO TO: https://liferingfoundation.org and give if you can (You can join in me as a “Fighting Kids Cancer Club member”, spread the word throughout the year, and follow them on their social platforms!) Expect to hear a whole lot more about the good we are collectively doing with this amazing foundation. And we hope to see some Life Ring folks at DTH! Cheers to the kids! --------- SO, HOW DO I LOCK DOWN THIS BEST TIME EVER?? GET YOUR TICKETS TODAY HERE ON EVENTBRITE! What fans are saying

Jan
April 22nd 2024
We’ve seen AEG a few times and were big fans already. This was the best experience we’ve had, despite the fact that the house lights stayed on for the entire concert. The couples sitting on either side of us were “first timers” and left the concert as confirmed fans. One woman next to me said that she had read about AEG and liked what Adam was all about. Adam & his bandies really connect with their fans! Always love that he talks with us after the show!

Adam Ezra Group Biography

Working outside the confines of the traditional music industry, Adam Ezra and his bandmates – Corinna Smith (fiddle), Alex Martin (drums), Poche Ponce (bass) - built a community of fans through sheer grit and determination, regularly performing hundreds of shows a year for the past two decades without any major label or mainstream radio support. Fusing folk intimacy and rock energy with soul power and pop charm, the band first emerged from Boston in the early 2000s and quickly garnered widespread acclaim for their bold, insightful songwriting and interactive, euphoric performances. From hole in the wall bars and house concerts to sold-out headline shows and dates with the likes of Little Big Town, The Wallflowers, Gavin DeGraw, Train, and The Wailers, Ezra and his bandmates treated every single gig like their last, attracting a die-hard following that believed not just in the music, but in their commitment to activism and social change, as well.

After their tour was cancelled at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ezra brought the show online to continue this commitment and created The Gathering Series which to-date has reached a cumulative audience of 15 million viewers. The bands ongoing daily livestreams since March of 2020 stands as a testament not only to Ezra’s artistic endurance, but also his ability to connect with viewers and provide an accepting and supportive space for newcomers to join his tight-knit community of fans. Through his own experience with COVID, his move across the country, and even his wedding day, Ezra has broadcasted without fail from wherever he found himself each night at 7pm Eastern. In addition to bringing The Gathering Series to the real world as they performed nearly 50 safe, socially distanced shows in parks and backyards around the United States to bring light to fans through music, the band didn’t stop there. Their homegrown festival, The Ramble, hosted by RallySound, raises money and marshals resources to help homeless veterans find safe and dignified housing for the last ten years. While the band was unable to bring the festival to fans live in the year of COVID, they instead incorporated it into The Gathering Series and hosted a 24-hour, nonstop livestream where they raised enough money to help house 64 veterans.

The Adam Ezra Group hit their 500th Live stream show on July 25th, 2021. They have also played an additional 50 backyard socially distanced shows, and are starting to tour heavily again in traditional and outdoor venues.  As if this wasn’t enough to keep them busy,  the band also embarked on an ambitious new recording series dubbed ‘The Album Project’ which will see the band releasing at least 19 new singles over the next few years. What comes next for the Adam Ezra Group? The future is anyone’s guess right now, and the only thing the Adam Ezra Group knows for sure, is they’ll be out there making music however and whenever they can.
