Gevaudan Biography
Blending heavy and progressive riffs, Iommi-esque solos, truly dynamic song writing and a strong story thematic, Gévaudan have carved their own unique niche within the genre of doom. Whilst they lean on epic and trad. doom influences, the band also draw upon progressive, black metal and 70’s psychedelia influences to create their sound.
Since their formation in 2013, they have released two EPs and their first full length offering, ‘Iter’ . Gévaudan are consistently praised for their take on the genre, being described as; ‘strong of riff’, ‘powerful’, ‘emotionally involving’ and ‘hypnotic’. Their first album, produced by Mike Exeter, has received an outstanding reception and was recognised in several end of year lists, and lauded as a potential album of the year in some underground circles.
The band are due to release their second album in 2023 which is set to deliver an even more epic and progressive approach whilst maintaining all the heaviness, emotion and melodic trippy interjections that have seen them continue to grow.
Their live performances raise the bar further. Always excellently received by the doom, and wider metal, fraternity, their festival appearances have received huge plaudits from both press and fans alike. They are now a well regarded and established act in the UK doom scene.
“Gevaudan’s ability to deliver their intense atmospheric post metal/sludge concoction was truly impressive.”
Metal-Rules (Desertfest London 2022)
“Like Sabbath but even slower and heavier, Gévaudan are brutal... the band made quite the impression on the weekend’s show-goers ”
Sonic Abuse (Doom vs Stoner 3)
“...dense riffs, haunting vocals and scene-setting atmospherics positively rumble with the sound of true fuckin’ doom. 5 tracks, 5 absolute winners. Bravo!”
