About this concert
NOTE: DIFFERENT LOCATION!
The Living Room Series is traveling a couple blocks away for a back yard bash!
As you may know, we had our 2nd kid in June, so we have been on a break from TLRS shows until life settles down. In the meantime, we are collaborating with some of our favorite neighbors just a couple blocks away to keep the series going!
If you're familiar with The Jesse Lees, I'm sure you've already skipped this intro and purchased your tickets. They are phenomenal. My guess is that you won't be able to see them in a DIY setting like this for too much longer, because these guys are too talented to not make it. They've been described many different ways, but imagine if Jimi Hendrix and André 3000 had been able to collaborate, and decided to incorporate psychedelic soundscapes into the project, that should start to paint the picture. So good, so talented, not to be missed.
And Appalatin...do I even need to say anything? They're one of the most important and recognized bands in Louisville, and any time they perform you should be there. They showcase an amazing fusion of Latin and American roots music, filled with soul and deep global grooves. Their sound is truly their own, and even if you're familiar with their recorded sound, you're always in for all kinds of surprises at their live shows.

Appalatin Biography
Exactly what you may or may not expect from a group of guys hailing from geographic locations such as Ecuador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala … not to mention Kentucky. Appalatin fluently combine the sounds and styles indigenous to Latin music with that of American folk music, transcending into its own unique amalgamation of truly global music.
The six-member band uses all acoustic instrumentation that features classical and steel string guitars; traditional Native wood flutes and pan flutes; harmonica; mandolin; charango (Andean ukelele); bass; and a myriad of percussion (congas, bongos, cajon, maracas, cow-bell and guiro to name a few).
While they call Louisville, Ky., home, each member has found a unique path to arrive there. The derivation of the name Appalatin represents the origin of the six members of the band: two members were born and grew up in the Appalachian region of Kentucky (though both individually lived in Latin America), one from Louisville, one member was born and grew up in the Andean mountain region of Ecuador, and one member was born and raised in Nicaragua and one in Mexico.
