About this concert
Bringing together traditions of Indian and Western Classical music
“Showcases the classical music of the subcontinent but also mixes, melds and modernises it.” Financial Times
Leeds-born sitarist, Jasdeep Singh Degun, is one of Britan’s leading voices in the Indian Classical tradition. His music complements the ancient traditions of raags with contemporary compositional techniques to create sparklingly cinematic music for sitar and strings. In this collaborative performance, our players and Jasdeep will spin a musical tale, driven by the beautiful spontaneity of the Indian Classical tradition, transporting you through layers of mesmerising melody.
A highlight of the journey will be a new work by Jasdeep for sitar and strings, which will come to life in these world premiere performances.
