About this concert
ARTIST BIO: Independent singer-songwriter, Abbie Thomas, mixes pop melodies with soulful vocals and hints of Blues, Jazz, and a vibe from the songwriters of the 70's. Touring regionally, she has most recently opened for Laine Hardy, Girl Named Tom, and Cathy Richardson of Jefferson Starship. Her standout music video, "Fireflies" has earned over 10 nominations for awards, including a "Best Female Solo Artist" nomination in 2021 for the California Music & Video Awards, and a "Best Independent Music Video" nomination for the Hollywood Music in Media Awards. She also earned the vibrant praises of Grammy winner Jim Peterik after becoming a finalist at Michigan's Acorn Theater in June 2019. It was the 2019 competition that turned Abbie from a part-time hobbyist, to full time musician by 2021. She currently keeps a 130+ per year live show calendar, and also just composed for, and performed with the Elkhart County, Indiana Symphony Orchestra. She just wrapped up her first short film score, and just wrapped up a composing/concert collaboration with the South Bend, IN Symphony Quartet. In fresh news, Abbie was just nominated for 4 Josie Music Awards (the equivalent to The Grammy’s for independent artists); Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Dirty Little Things”, Entertainer of the Year, and Songwriter Achievement for her unreleased track “Lucky Penny”. The awards show will take place at The Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN in October of 2023. She was also just nominated for 2 Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA’s) for Album of the Year for her first album, “Who I Am” (released in 2021), and “Best Live or Streamed Performance” for her NPR Tiny Desk Contest entry with her full backing band for “Try”. She’ll be headed to Hollywood, California on August 17 for the awards show. At the end of September, she’ll be teaming up with Canadian and Rolling Stone reviewed singer songwriter, Geneviève Racette for a double bill tour through Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin. The tour will be announced in August of 2023. As an independent artist with no team, Thomas surpassed 100,000 streams on major platforms in early 2023, and new music is currently being recorded, and slated to begin releasing in late 2023.
