Matt Strachan and The Hoot Owls Biography
With roots in alternative rock and country music, Matt Strachan has been a part of music scenes around the country for the last 15 years. His current project, Matt Strachan and the Hoot Owls, brings him back to his hometown of Helena, MT, where he has become well known for his high-energy country-rock performances.
"Tickets", Matt's debut album, was released in July of 2016 and earned Matt a spot as the Unsigned Artist of the Week in Music Connection Magazine in October of 2016.
The sophomore release, “Dogtown”, was recorded in San Antonio, Texas and released in July of 2018. The first single, Lost With You, earned a spot in rotation on Cherry Creek Radio. The same song was a top four finalists at the Red Lodge Songwriter’s Festival in 2018. During the “Dogtown Tour” of 2018 the band finished second on the Emerging Artist’s stage at Red Ants Pants Music Festival, headlined a night at The Bob Marshall Music Festival, and gained a strong following across Montana.
