emilie clepper Biography
Austin Americana/country/folk artist Emilie Clepper brings one of the genre’s finest new voices and an eclectic musical background to present music that is fresh, moving and memorable. The Emilie Clepper band is a regular act at one of Austin’s hottest new clubs, the Whitehorse. Along with band members Pete "Okie" Weiss, Lisa Lam and Collin Shook, the group gets patrons up and two-stepping with songs penned by Emilie, Pete and Emilie’s songwriting father, Russell Clepper.
Since her young teens, Emilie has travelled back and forth between her native Quebec and her father’s Texas and counts folk, bluegrass, gospel and roots country among her most enduring influences. The last few years saw her achieving both critical and popular success in Quebec where one of the major daily newspapers, Le Soleil, dubbed her "Quebec’s best-kept secret." She was a repeat performer in several major festivals there, including the Montreal Jazz Festival where she wowed audiences with Americana versions of her songs, supported by some of Quebec’s most excellent players, including bassist Jerome Dupras (Les Cowboys Fringants) and pedal steel wizard Joe Grass.
With her third release, Texas Eagle EP, Emilie has found her true style and voice and presents herself as a young artist who has matured into a formidable songwriting force and a star performer.
Clepper's new Austin band formation (Clepper And The Coyotes) will release their first EP "Dirt And Bones" on April 20th 2015.
