About this concert
Hayley Marsten returns to Oodies to launch her much anticipated second album, 'Girlhood'. Kicking off 2023 by signing to prestigious alt-country label Cheatin' Hearts Records and taking the stage of the biggest country music festival in Australia, CMC Rocks. Now Hayley is back on the road with her full band for the first time ever. 'Girlhood' is a coming-of-age album, recorded in Brisbane and written to the past version of Marsten. If HAIM & Shania Twain got together to make music, their sonic sister would be Hayley Marsten. Her sharp pen and open heart created her stellar debut, ‘Spectacular Heartbreak’ in 2019. The album was crowdfunded, nominated for Alt-Country Album of the Year at the Golden Guitars, Country Work of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards in 2020 and was streamed over half a million times in the first year. 3 years on from her debut, Hayley has signed with Cheatin Hearts Records for the release of her hotly anticipated sophomore release. Which is already award-nominated with ‘Drowning Myself’ (Country work at The Queensland Music Awards 2022) and was crowdfunded with over $20k.

Lisa De Angelis Biography

“[She is] the creator of sultry, intriguing country music songs … De Angelis is a performer of captivating powers, as anyone who has seen her play live can attest. She is an artist dedicated to creating pieces of magic, whether recorded or on stage, and it is difficult not to be enchanted” - Sunburnt Country MusicLisa De Angelis makes cowboy music for city slickers. This five-foot firecracker’s show is as close as you'll get to a tent revival this side of Kentucky: vulnerable, masterful lyricism, rowdy sing alongs and fast-paced, no-holds anecdotes coupled with De Angelis' signature frenetic finger-picked guitar style. The swampy blues of The Black Keys meets the old-time country stylings of June Carter in De Angelis’ signature sound: swaggering, honest Americana music.

Since graduating from the CMAA’s Academy of Country Music in 2019, Lisa De Angelis has toured with some of Australia’s best, including Steve Kilbey (The Church), Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon), Nathan Cavaleri, Amber Lawrence, James Blundell, The Audreys, Hayley Jensen, Catherine Britt and Melody Moko, as well as playing the Gympie Music Muster and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. She made her TCMF Main Stage debut in early 2024, and will make her Nashville debut during CMA Fest in June of the same year.

De Angelis’ songs have garnered airplay on ABC Country, CMT and KIX Country Radio, and her song ‘My Sister’s Blue Suitcase’ was named a semi-finalist in the 2024 International Songwriting Competition. She graduated from the AIR’s 2023 ‘Women In Music’ mentorship program under the guidance of ARIA Award-winner Fanny Lumsden, and - despite suffering profound, permanent hearing loss in one ear in 2022 - that same year played over 100 shows. Her debut album - recorded and co-produced by De Angelis and her partner Paul Bain (Travis Collins, Kirsty Lee Akers) in their private studio in Brisbane - is due for release in early 2025.

The charismatic youngest daughter of one of Australia’s top psychic mediums, Lisa De Angelis’ art and path was always going to be unconventional - and she only picked up a guitar for the first time in 2017. Since graduating from The Country Music Association of Australia’s prestigious ‘Academy of Country Music’ and playing her first Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2019, Lisa has toured with and opened shows for Steve Kilbey (The Church), Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon), Nathan Cavaleri, Amber Lawrence, Hayley Jensen, Catherine Britt and Melody Moko. Touring regional NSW together in 2021, Kilbey was so taken by Lisa’s style and sound that he penned a song for her to record, due for release on her debut album. A mentee of country music heavyweights Fanny Lumsden and Kevin Bennett (The Flood), Lisa’s debut and sophomore songs have garnered airplay on ABC Country, CMT and KIX Country Radio.

Scrappy, vulnerable and heartfelt, 'part Judy Garland, part Saturday Night Live comedian' on stage, Lisa hails from southwest Sydney and cut her musical teeth in the south of the United States. She is currently recording and co-producing her debut album, due for release in 2024.
