The Misty Mountain String Band Biography
The Misty Mountain String Band’s story isn’t quite a tale as old as time, but it’s certainly a classic:
Four of us met at seminary and began jamming together.
We played a pick-up gig at an old-time camp revival in rural Kentucky and realized we were a great team.
It didn’t take long for us to realize we had something special, and we started recording albums, touring, and playing music festivals like John Hartford Fest and Master Musicians Fest.
After two years and a small lineup change we’re releasing our fourth album and planning an ambitious supporting tour.
Our work has been mentioned on Huffington Post, Paste Magazine, The Bluegrass Situation, and more. We've also been featured on WDVX Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, TN, Live Lunch on WFPK Independent Louisville, KY, and WKU NPR's Lost River Sessions in Bowling Green, KY. We've built up our reputation as a popular bluegrass band, and we're proud of it!
Drawing influence from old-time music, country, Americana, bluegrass, and songs of labor and protest, The Misty Mountain String Band harks back to the days of black lung and short life expectancy.
They are also available for weddings.
