Treehouse Sanctum Biography
Treehouse Sanctum is an Americana / Folk-Rock band based in Denver, Colorado. The group focuses on intelligent, emotive lyrics covering heroism, love, hope and faith; coupling that with driving, groove filled rhythms and intricately layered, nuanced instrumentation, the band creates a lush and dynamic sound that wins over audiences each time they play.
Albums:
Thunderhead (2023)
Vivere (2017)
Shake the Shadow (2014)
Winner - Best Folk Band (2017/2018) - 303 Magazine
“...a symbolic sanctuary within which creativity is allowed to flow freely” - Paste Magazine
“...dynamic music, like some sort of Americana orchestra” - Denver Post
The two founding members and primary songwriters of Treehouse Sanctum are Sam Rymer (vocals, guitar) and Danya Lynn Uptegrove (vocals, keys). Formed in 2011 after a house jam session, the band expanded in 2013 to include Andrew Horwath (drums, percussion, keys). Shortly thereafter, Treehouse Sanctum went on to release their debut album, Shake the Shadow, in 2014. After that release, the band expanded to include Jeremy Gleason (lead guitar), Dewayne Rymer (trumpet, keys) & Ben Slaughter (bass); making Treehouse Sanctum a dynamic and polished 6 piece band that delivers a lush live performance that hits listens right in the “sweet spot.”
“Together the band creates a compassionate and warm sound — the way folk music, to us, is supposed to.” - 303 Magazine
“...wave-like harmonies, a mariachi-esque interlude...and dreamy, floating melodies throughout, this track is an exciting peek into the Denver six-piece’s upcoming record, Vivere.” (review of lead single, Chacala) - BolderBeat
Having performed with Mumford and Sons, The Flaming Lips, Jenny Lewis, Dawes, Miner, Dustbowl Revival, Whiskey Shivers and so many others; Treehouse Sanctum is looking forward to touring their new album, Vivere, and the opportunity to take their music to a much broader audience. For fans of: Needtobreathe, Mumford & Sons, Lake Street Dive, The Lumineers, Lord Huron, Drive By Truckers, Brandi Carlile, Of Monsters & Men.
