Surf Rock is Dead Biography

Hailing from Chicago and Melbourne, Australia respectively, Kevin Pariso and Joel Witenberg together make up the Brooklyn duo, Surf Rock is Dead. Embodying the beachiness of their namesake's genre through a new wave filter, the band have spent the last two years crafting an infectious brand of dream-pop in the vein of Diiv, Day Wave, and Beach Fossils.

What people are saying about Surf Rock is Dead:
“It’s a testament to the power of the
human imagination—and their bleached
grooves—that this can conjure a baking
beach and some existential ennui in the
middle of a frigid winter.”
- NOISEY

“…a strange contradiction that leaves you
pressing play on the track over and over
again.”
- NYLON

“At its core, this is modern surf music, but
there's nothing frothy about it.”
- Under the Radar

“...a heavenly confection”
- CLASH Magazine

"...a sumptuous bout of guitar-pop just when we need it the most."
- Gold Flake Paint

“Surf rock isn’t dead; it’s just been transformed..”
- FLOOD Magazine
