The Outriders

"You know what's cool? Harmonies!" That was the statement leading to the formation of The Outriders, one of the premiere country bands in southern Sweden. Formed as a project between Niklas Almqvist (bass/harmonies) and Ulf Nilsson (rhythm guitar/lead vocals) the band quickly recruited Marcus Ekstand (mandolin/harmonica/steel guitar) and soon after that Karl Strandberg (lead guitar). After a number of drummers (most notably Peter Magnusson who can be heard on half of the track on their debut album), Samuel "Tin Man" Albertsson is now behind the skins.

With roots ranging from 1950-ties country to the more elaborately produced sounds of the 1980-ties, The Outriders is a modern take on traditional country & western. The themes are as old as time, with lost loves, broken hearts and some ol' time religion thrown in for good measure. And harmonies. Harmonies are indeed always cool.
