The Red River Ramblers

The Red River Ramblers perform Métis fiddle music. Douglas Richard Sinclair is a citizen of the Métis Nation, with roots to Red River. Sinclair envisioned a sound that would burn a new path for Métis fiddle music. The music of The Red River Ramblers roots itself in a deep respect for the elements of Métis fiddle; fierce tempos, crooked metres, timeless melodies. The Red River Ramblers sets it all on fire. The guitar drifts between rhythmic and melodic. The hand drum, bass drum, spoons, shaker, and bass carry the heart beat. The fiddle weaves the timeless melodies.

In February of 2019, Sinclair founded The Red River Ramblers. Sinclair arranged eight fiddle tunes to make a record. The band recorded with John Dinsmore at Lincoln County Social Club in Toronto Ontario. The band recorded the eight tunes live off the floor in one day on July 22nd 2019. Jeff Elliot (Fedge) mastered the record. The Red River Ramblers embarked on their winter record release tour in January 2020. The band released the record titled “Métis Fiddle Music” on Saturday January 4th 2020 to a full house at The Local Pub in Toronto, Ontario. Highlights of the record release shows included Guelph Banjo Fest, and the Midland Cultural Centre.

In the summer of 2022, Sinclair hired old-time music veterans John Showman (fiddle) and James McEleny (bass) to record their new record, Reverie. The record features original compositions written and arranged by Sinclair. Reverie will release in January of 2023, with the single “Road To Pembina” debuting on Friday October 28th.
