Artist bio
Skint Knees are a riot grrrl three-piece from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, creating loud, politically charged punk that refuses to be watered down. Unafraid to take up space, their music channels anger, joy, and defiance into songs that tackle gender, sexuality, equality, and the urgency of building a better society.
Inspired by punk trailblazers like X-Ray Spex, Bikini Kill, L7 and Destroy Boys, their 2022 debut EP Catcall introduced six high-energy tracks packed with sharp hooks and unapologetic attitude. Fan favourite Eat The Rich quickly became a standout, combining hard-hitting lyrics with punchy, infectious riffs.
Their 2024 releases - EP Bite Back and analogue project Grrrl Germs - cemented a sound that is both raw and deliberate. Critics have described the band as “loud, engaged and unafraid,” delivering music that feels “fast and furious with chaotic choruses and youthful charisma,” (Vanadian Avenue) while maintaining a clear sense of purpose.
On stage, Skint Knees have built a reputation for high-energy shows that draw diverse, passionate crowds. From a sold-out EP launch at the Hallamshire Hotel in Sheffield to performances across the UK, and festival appearances including Shambala and Manchester Punk Festival, they continue to grow their live presence - culminating in an upcoming slot at Rebellion Festival. Their sound is driven by “singalong choruses and catchy riffs… hard not to get sucked in by the energy.” (Loud Women)
With new material set for release in the coming months, Skint Knees continue to push forward with an undeniably established sound and unwavering values. Their music speaks to the female, queer, and gender non-conforming experience, encouraging listeners not just to relate - but to question, engage, and be part of meaningful change.
