Pink Steam

Seattle based punk band Pink Steam is barreling their way into the punk scene with their new singles "Marjorine" and "Holy Fingers," and we all better be ready. Channeling the grunge aggression that runs through the electrical wires of our beloved city, Pink Steam has embraced the genre's wallowing melancholy and fused it with dissonant, clever, punchy punk energy akin to The Pixies. With their short-but-sweet "Marjorine," Pink Steam immediately demands your attention with wailing vocals and a masterful building of anticipation crashing into head-banging emotion. It feels like walking up a spiral staircase, only to have the floor cave in underneath you before you can reach the top. "Holy Fingers" keeps you hooked and eager to hear more with dreamy, echoed guitars plucking at catchy motifs and gasping vocals, tied with a punk edge that is reminiscent of classic 90's punk and metal sounds, yet distinct and representative of a young, modern synthesis of punk. Listening to these singles nonstop on my commute to work, I want to dive head-first into all of the energy that the music promises. I fight the urge to thrash my body around on the Seattle sidewalks to the sharp pulse of the drum.
