Super Friendz presents
Giles Corey
Giles Corey is the folk-driven solo work of Dan Barrett, co-founder of Have a Nice Life and Enemies List Home Recordings. This November he tours it entirely alone for the first time. First released in 2011, the self-titled Giles Corey album began with a simple constraint: acoustic instruments only. That boundary opened into something much larger—guitar, piano, ghostly choirs, heavy organ, field recordings, and sudden walls of sound arranged around an intimate singer-songwriter core.
The songs move through depression, death, history, and the paranormal without treating any of them as distant ideas. Quiet desperation gives way to cathartic outburst; private confession becomes communal release. The album and its accompanying book have since gathered a fervent following, often described by listeners in the language of ritual or religious experience.
These are the first Giles Corey dates since a handful of shows in 2023, and the first Barrett has ever performed entirely solo: stark voice and acoustic instruments, unstable electronics, and arrangements built to move from a whisper to physical impact. The set includes brand new material performed live for the first time.

Artist bio
Giles Corey is the solo project of Dan Barrett, also of Have a Nice Life. Since its 2011 self-titled debut, the project has developed a massive cult following for its crushing and deeply intimate blend of folk, experimental music, and slowcore. Exploring depression, death, history, and the paranormal, Giles Corey creates music that feels both intensely personal and strangely haunted.

What fans are saying
Sprain was... a band. Avant-garde noise ain't my thing. Midwife was pretty good, the new songs are great. Dan has really honed his craft as Giles Corey. The performance was oozing with passion and drama without turning corny (like Sprain did). Good t-shirts available. After the show, at midnight, on the 1.5h drive home I finally listened to Deconstructionist and that's not really a good thing to try when going 90 at night lol. Was nodding off whenever the low tones were going. Dan sure knows some stuff about death.
