Chaz-O

Chaz-O, born Chad Newton, was raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut. A once thriving city victimized from industrial restructuration and suburbanization in the 1970-80s along with Baltimore, Detroit and many more. Being raised in a city of such struggles Chaz-O found solace in poetry and music which naturally formed him into an artist of organic lyricism.
Noticeable in his music, Chaz-O tells a story vividly painting a picture enabling listeners to encounter and/or relate to living in an environment such as Bridgeport. Chaz-O depicts his story directly as well as indirectly musically. Also the mood, tone and maturity of his music is en-synced with his life experiences and situations at that time.
Recently hip hop has been overly consumed with flashiness and catchy singles of today’s faddish society. The majority of mcees today have the tendency to mistakenly follow this as a blueprint to easy success. But not Chaz-O as he pledges “music is my passion, I do it for the love and respect before the money”.
