Scattrbrain is the full-band alter ego of Atlanta-based artist GRIP, known for his gritty lyricism, sharp social commentary and raw emotional depth. Emerging from the hip-hop underground and once signed to Eminem’s Shady Records, GRIP built a reputation as one of Atlanta’s most introspective emcees.

Now, with Scattrbrain, he disrupts genre lines entirely—channeling post-punk, grunge, hardcore and DIY energy into a cathartic, guitar-heavy evolution of sound. Created alongside Grouplove bassist Daniel Gleason, producer/engineer T.J. Elias and a cast of Atlanta collaborators, the project pulls from influences ranging from Nirvana and Radiohead to IDLES, Iggy Pop, Wire and Public Image Ltd.

The 14-track debut album, Scattrbrain & The Unwavering Self Doubt, turns two years of burnout, depression, addiction, identity crises and industry disillusionment into a cinematic personal reckoning. Featuring Kenny Mason, Grouplove’s Hannah Hooper and other Atlanta creatives, the album gives GRIP a new language for the things that didn’t fit neatly into bars—live drums, distortion, jagged guitars and an uninhibited vocal approach that pushes everything closer to the edge.

Scattrbrain is what happens when one of hip-hop’s most cerebral writers confronts the noise in his own head with a mic full of blood and battery acid. It’s not rap with guitars. It’s rage with purpose. Punk for the overthinkers.
