Artist bio
Born on the east coast and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, 20-year-old Jonah Roy has been playing music for 15 years and producing for 6 years. His early days began by playing guitar at age 6, fronting a rock band from ages 8 to 13, and playing legendary venues in St. Louis such as Fubar, Blueberry Hill, and the Monocle. Jonah discovered Garage Band in high school and began producing his own music; he copyrighted his first song at age 12. Jonah moved to LA in 2021 at age 19 to pursue his artist project full time.

Jonah describes his style as indie pop, with alt-rock flare and experimental production elements, including orchestral transitions between songs, high-energy chord progressions, and emotional singer-songwriter foundations. “My style of music is a mixture of simple, melodic chord progressions, catchy hooks and choruses, and unique production elements that give each song its own personality. Whether I’m creating an unconventional sound effect or some sort of synth, I look for ways to exclude the ordinary and create something new,” says Jonah. Some of his biggest musical influences are The Beatles, Flaming Lips, and Tyler, the Creator.

To date, Jonah has released two 8-track albums - “Carpe Diem” in 2019 and “Floating Head” in 2021. He released the single “Snow” in 2019, “Fuck That!” in 2022, which has accumulated over 250,000 streams and was placed on Spotify’s “New Music Friday” playlist as well as Apple’s “Wildflower” playlist, and most recently “Pressure” in February 2022. He was featured in Forbes and The Drill Mag to highlight his writing and production with collaborator True Jackson, as well as on discovery platform Fashionably Early to spotlight “Fuck That!” and Sheesh Media to spotlight “Pressure.”

Additionally, Jonah has co-written two songs with True Jackson that were placed in movies. Their first placement was for the song “Go Away,” which was chosen by music supervisor Bonnie Greenberg for the film “Nine Bullets,” starring Lena Heady and Sam Worthington. Nine Bullets comes out in theaters on April 8th, 2022. Their second film placement is for the song “Do U Even Need Me” which will be in the Hulu movie “Sid is Dead” produced by Jeremy Garelic.

Jonah has grown his audience primarily through organic TikTok content, where he gains new fans daily who engage heavily with his videos and music. Jonah has plans to release several more singles in 2022 and continue performing shows in LA and beyond.
