About this concert
8:15 PM GMT+1
Pynarello dives into the rugged, virtuosic world of Southern European Baroque music, exploring every side of machismo. Bravado clashes with vulnerability, as the muscular music of Vivaldi and Tartini meets the sensitive arias of Barbara Strozzi. Pynarello violinist Jeffrey Bruinsma writes an overture for the anti-macho, while cellist Lidy Blijdorp reveals its more vulnerable side. The battle continues on the dance floor, where breakdancer Neo Jansen goes head-to-head with classically trained dancer Ahmad Joudeh. Along the way, Baroque works by composers including De Murcia, Locatelli and Barbara Strozzi are given a powerful hip-hop treatment. What begins as a cockfight between musicians, dancers and composers ultimately grows into one big celebration.
