Over 14's with an adult  Doors 7pm, 7.30pm start     “Traditional music at it’s most graceful, ingenious and jawdropping” – The Guardian McGoldrick, McCusker & Doyle are one of the most important and sought-aftercollaborations in contemporary Celtic music … a true folk supergroup whose influencereaches far beyond the tradition. Individually, they are world-renowned artists; together, they form a trio whose instinctiveinterplay, decades-deep friendship and effortless command of their craft have made them abenchmark for modern folk musicianship. Between them, Michael McGoldrick (flute, uilleann pipes, whistles), John McCusker(fiddle, whistles, harmonium) and John Doyle (vocals, guitar, bouzouki, mandola) havehelped shape the sound of the genre for more than three decades. Their collective CV tellsits own story: founding members of era-defining bands, vital members of the TransatlanticSessions house band, BBC Folk Award winners, composers, producers, and solo artistswhose fingerprints can be found across the most influential traditional and roots recordingsof the last generation. What elevates the trio even further is the extraordinary regard they command from theirpeers. WhenMcGoldrick, McCusker & Doyle appear on a record, it signals authenticity, mastery, and adeep-rooted connection to the heart of the tradition. Their own trio work is equally acclaimed. From the instinctive brilliance of their first studioalbum The Wishing Tree to the electrifying spontaneity of their live concerts, they createmusic that feels both timeless and urgently alive. Sets unfold like conversations … tunesand songs passed back and forth with ease, humour, precision and playfulness … the kind ofmusical telepathy that can only come from growing up, travelling and playing together formost of their lives. Bridging the Irish and Scottish traditions with grace and innovation, McGoldrick, McCusker& Doyle have become a defining ensemble of their generation. Their performances arecelebrated as masterclasses in ensemble playing, rich in tradition yet always forwardlooking. Artist bio
John Doyle (b. Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish musician. For four years he served as acoustic guitarist with the Irish/American band Solas, and is also an active solo artist. He has written many traditional-sounding songs and has collaborated with Kate Rusby.

Doyle has also producing credits, as well as performing, on the solo CDs of the singer from Cherish the Ladies, Heidi Talbot's, Distant Future, on which she sings his composition, "I dream of you", his current touring partner Liz Carroll's CDs, and his father Sean Doyle's CD, The Light and the Half Light. Also Karan Casey, on her solo CD, Songlines, listen to his use of a volume pedal and his acoustic guitar on the song "She is like the Swallow."

Doyle is a highly accomplished guitarist with a trademark style for backing up other musicians. A left handed player, his style involves the use of bass string damping with the heel of the left hand combined with a constant, metronome-like strumming pattern and nimble movement up and down the neck with the right hand to incorporate bass lines and chordal variations. Combined with other dynamic techniques such as string choking with the right hand, the resulting sound is full and highly rythmical.

Doyle plays guitar in many different tunings, but is perhaps best known for using the 'Dropped D' tuning (DADGBE) for backing up other musicians.
