About this concert

14+ (under 16s with an adult) In the past decade, HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY have become pioneers of the post black metal movement, gained a significant worldwide following with "III: Trauma" and even entered the German charts on #4 with their latest album "Maere".  Ever since their conception in 2011, the Austrian duo has drawn fans and critics deeper and deeper into the maelstrom of their melancholy, self-hate and anger, and toured relentlessly in Europe, Asia and North and South America. With M.S.‘s captivating guitar melodies and J.J.‘s lyrics, ridden with trauma, delirium and loss, their unique mixture of extreme metal and post rock has created an inescapable void.  Danish atmospheric black metal band SUNKEN have been unfolding their dark, melancholic, depressive soundscapes and ethereal melodies on the European scene since 2012. Exploring topics such as hopelessness, apathy, depression and anger,Sunken’s music convey deep and personal emotions resulting in an all-encompassing and overwhelmingly immersive live-experience. Why do we have a restoration Levy?  Put very simply, our restoration levy is an additional charge added to your ticket price which is directly invested back into the venue. This money is used for critical maintenance, repairs, and preservation efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the building. As the 3rd oldest church building in Glasgow, dating back to 1836, Saint Luke's requires ongoing care and special restoration to maintain its historic character and facilities. This levy will enable us to fund essential projects that will safeguard the venue's future as a vibrant hub for live music and community events. If you would like to be kept up to date on progress with how we are using this fund then please follow us on social media @stlukesglasgow, and sign up to our mailing list where we will send out quarterly updates on the improvements that your donations are helping us make.

Artist bio
Despair, loss, love, and existential struggles have always been the foundation of HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY’s distinctive sound. Since their formation in 2011, multi-instrumentalist M.S. and vocalist J.J. have gained recognition for pushing musical boundaries with their emotionally charged blend of atmospheric extreme metal and melodic post-rock, grunge and modern hardcore. Taking four years to craft the follow-up to 2021’s "Maere" (which peaked at #4 on the official German charts), HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY will now release their new tour-de-force, "Scorched Earth" through AOP Records.
"‘Scorched Earth’ came together after years of experimenting with untypical sounds, yet on the other hand trying to stay true to our original post black metal style. It still seemed like one crisis followed another. Our society is divided to its core and peace seems further away than ever in the last decades. This is what inspired the title of the new album: “Scorched Earth” is a snapshot of the world we are living, a world that’s tragically broken.”

HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY have headlined tours across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Australia, earning a reputation as one of the most intense live acts in modern metal. Additionally, they've garnered 5 nominations for Austria’s prestigious Amadeus Music Award. Now, the band is ready to return to the stage, kicking off a North American tour with Swallow The Sun in February to unveil "Scorched Earth" to the world.
