colormal

colormal is a four-piece band based in Osaka, Japan. The project began in April 2015 as the solo home-recording unit of guitarist/vocalist Ienaga. Their first mini-album merkmal, released in 2018, drew wide attention despite being self-produced, with comments from Shinoda (HITORIE / cakebox) and acclaim across different scenes.

Since 2021, the band has taken on its current lineup with Yasasaku. (Gt.), Matsuyama (Ba.), and Tainaka (Dr.), releasing three EPs to date while performing energetically on stage. Their second mini-album diode (May 2023) reached No.1 on Disk Union’s weekly chart, and the release events in Tokyo and Osaka featuring Ohzora Kimishima Trio and Mao Sasagawa were met with great success. In June 2024, they held their second solo show at Shimo-Kitazawa Chikamichi in Tokyo, which quickly sold out. In July 2025, they released their third mini-album Whispers in the Dark (Yoru ni Majiru Hitotachi) via Oaiko.

Beyond colormal, Ienaga is also active as a guitarist and arranger, contributing to the works of voice actress and singer Reina Ueda and producing music for Taiwanese band Gestalt Girl, further expanding his artistic reach.


大阪を中心に活動する4人組バンド。2015年4月にイエナガ(Gt. Vo.)の宅録ソロユニットとして活動を開始。 2018年にリリースされた1stミニアルバム『merkmal』は自主制作ながらヒトリエ/cakeboxのシノダがコメントを寄せるなど多くの話題を呼び、シーンを越えて愛される作品となった。 2021年よりやささく。(Gt.)、マツヤマ(Ba.)、田井中(Dr.)を迎えたバンド体制となる。これまでに3作のEPをリリースし、精力的なライブ活動を行っている。2023年5月にリリースした2nd mini album『diode』はディスクユニオンの週間チャート一位を飾り、君島大空トリオ・笹川真生を迎えて開催した東阪リリースイベントも盛況に終わる。2024年6月には東京・下北沢近道にてキャリア2度目の単独公演を敢行。ソールドアウトとなる。2025年7月にはOaikoより3rd mini album『夜に交じる人たち』をリリース。
Gt. Vo.のイエナガは声優・上田麗奈の音源にギタリストとして参加、台湾のバンド・ゲシュタルト乙女の楽曲をプロデュースするなどギタリスト・編曲家としても活動の幅を広げている。
