Muse

Muse was incredible. Portugal. The Man… not so much. Muse absolutely delivered in Atlanta. From the moment they hit the stage, the energy, musicianship, production, and overall performance were outstanding. Matt Bellamy and the band sounded fantastic, and Muse once again proved why they are one of the best live rock bands out there. They know how to put on a SHOW. Unfortunately, the opening act was a completely different story. Portugal. The Man was a terrible choice to open for Muse. Their set felt flat, uninspired, and completely mismatched with the energy you expect leading into a Muse concert. Instead of building anticipation and getting the crowd fired up, they sucked the energy out of the venue. By the end of their set, I was just ready for it to be over. For a band with Muse’s reputation and the level of production they bring, they deserved a much stronger supporting act—someone capable of getting the crowd energized and setting the stage for what was coming. Thankfully, once Muse took over, none of that mattered. They completely changed the atmosphere and reminded everyone exactly who we came to see. Muse: 10/10. Absolutely phenomenal. Portugal. The Man: 2/10. Easily the weakest part of the night. Overall, an amazing Muse concert that could have been an incredible night from beginning to end with a better opening band.
