Artist bio
Dr Ushuu, the musical alias of Portuguese DJ and producer Daniel Cabral Roças, has been shaping his own lane in electronic music since 2016. Known for his genre fluid approach and emotionally driven productions, Dr Ushuu blends powerful bass music energy with cinematic and galactic sound design, creating a universe where intensity meets atmosphere. After building his reputation through explosive dubstep releases, Dr Ushuu is now entering a new artistic era, returning to the roots of 140 BPM dubstep with a groovier, deeper and more urban sound. His recent performances have evolved into full 140 sets, reflecting a refined musical identity inspired by the foundations of UK dubstep culture while maintaining his signature festival impact. His breakthrough moment came with the release of “Quasar”, a defining early hit that surpassed 500,000 streams worldwide and gained support from major artists including Knock2, SLANDER, Ray Volpe, ATLiens, DJ Diesel and many more, establishing Dr Ushuu as a rising name within the global bass music scene. Continuing this momentum, his recent single “Camden Town” marked a major milestone, reaching the Top 10 of Beatport’s 140 / Grime / Deep Dubstep charts where it remained for two consecutive months. The track earned widespread support from key figures across the spectrum of bass music including Levity, Zeds Dead, Mersiv, Mary Droppins, Mala, Coki, Truth, Caspa and Moody Good, while also landing Dr Ushuu as the cover artist of Dubstep Don for an entire week. Over the years, Dr Ushuu has released music on some of the most respected labels in electronic music such as Disciple, Subsidia, Bassrush and Insomniac Records. His productions have received continued support from leading artists including Excision, Subtronics, NGHTMRE, Knife Party, DJ Diesel, Ray Volpe and many others, reinforcing his position as a versatile and forward thinking producer. His collaborative catalogue includes notable releases such as “Madara” with IVORY, “Diamonds” with Modestep, and “Stompe” alongside Samplifire, Bizo and Ecraze, supported by over fifteen major artists including Black Tiger Sex Machine, PhaseOne, ATLiens and Dirtyphonics. From underground clubs to some of the world’s most prestigious festivals including Tomorrowland, Forbidden Kingdom, Rampage and Lost Lands, Dr Ushuu has captivated audiences with performances that bridge raw bass energy and immersive storytelling. With a constantly evolving sound and a renewed focus on deep 140 dubstep, Dr Ushuu continues to push boundaries while reconnecting with the genre’s core foundations, positioning himself as one of the emerging voices shaping the future of modern bass music.
