JUICE is a Queer Afro Music Showcase featuring Montreal based duo STRANGE FROOTS, Ottawa based MUSICBYJAYEL and OK NALEDI accompanied by Kira Montfort and DJ Del Pilar. It’s starting to get chilly so let’s turn up the heat. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8:00pm (like legit). Strange Froots: Strange froots is a chill-soul alternative & Hip-Hop duo frm NBS Studio in Côtes-des-Neiges. Since 2014, Naïka Champaïgne and Mags perform on stage and produce themselves in the Montreal scene while putting at the forefront their youth influences, their Caribbean and African roots as well as their own twist in neo-soul and the modern Hip-Hop culture. OK Naledi: OK Naledi is an Afro House music project created by Queer, Motswana Canadian musician Naledi Sunstrum. Traditional sub-Saharan clean guitar lines, classic deep bass, movement-inspiring beats and that iconic, driving Afro House tempo – these are the pieces that define OK Naledi. Emerging on the Ottawa music scene in February 2022, OK Naledi has already had incredible performance opportunities and support. From Bluesfest to a Pride Mainstage performance, opening for JulyTalk at HOPE Summerfest to an Axé World Fest performance at the National Arts Centre as well as a Nomination for Newcomer of the Year at the Capital Music Awards – OK Naledi is presenting themselves as an exciting artist to keep tabs on. MusicbyJayel: is a DJ and producer in the process of making a mark on the music scene near you with their many talents. Sharing their passion for music with others, MusicbyJayel loves to mix open format touching on genres from around the world. With the use of long blends, edits from the globe, and a splash of your favourite songs, you’ll find the perfect mix of genres such as Amapiano, Hip Hop, EDM, Dancehall, Soca and Reggae. Jayel just celebrated the release of their first Edit Pack Winter Solstice available on BandCamp with more heat to come.
