Artist bio
In 2026, Robert Post is set to release two studio albums “…That Magnificent Distraction” and “Beside My Heart”, one double
album with 20 tracks of melodic, guitar-driven pop/rock produced by Lars Voldsdal (Madrugada, Hellbillies) and a self-
produced, stripped-down and home-recorded folk album.
The music is described as sophisticated, atmospheric and catchy pop/rock with timeless melodies — as if you mixed
Sgt. Pepper–era Beatles with the charm of Rufus Wainwright, a touch of Bob Dylan and a dash of Neil Young.
Robert Post, from Langevåg in Sunnmøre, debuted in 2005 with his self-titled album, for which he received two
Spellemann Awards. The album’s first single, Got None, went straight to the top in Italy and also achieved high chart
positions in the United Kingdom, France and Norway.
His debut album, released internationally by Universal Music, produced by Mike Hedges (The Cure, Manic Street
Preachers, Travis) and co-produced by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Beck, David Bowie), was “Record of the Week” on BBC
Radio 2, and both singles were A-listed across Europe.
Sunday Times Culture wrote:
“The whole of Post’s debut album glories in tunes many songwriters would kill for…”
In the years following his debut, Robert Post has played clubs, festivals and TV shows across Europe and the United
States, sharing the stage with many well-known artists (Aimee Mann, Rufus Wainwright, Ray Lamontagne). In 2009, the
follow-up Disarm & Let Go was released to strong reviews in Norway, Rhetoric (2011) showed a more subdued and
acoustic side of the artist, and in 2013 he released his most recent album, The Button Moulder, on which he plays all
instruments himself.
After several years away from touring and recording, Robert Post has performed 80 of his own concerts in Norway and
has toured as bassist and backing vocalist for Thom Hell for the past three years. In autumn 2022, the first single Heart
On Your Sleeve was released, followed by What Has Become Of Me? in April 2025.
