Milena Biography
Milena Slavova was born on 24 February 1966 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
To devote herself to music was a childhood's dream of hers. As a teenager she brought her friends to secret places and basements, where they could listen to the forbidden at that time in Bulgaria rock/punk music. The first band she got to know well, was 'Kiss'. After that, she worked for some time as a model. Her first professional attempts were in 1985. In communist conceptions, however, her band turned out to be an 'enemy of the society'. Indeed, they were rockers who opposed the system in public, which meant they were not harmless, so Milena was constantly under the surveillance of the police. The band's appearance on the radio and on concerts was restricted, they weren't allowed to make records. That's why the first album of Milena with the band of "Review" appeared in 1989. It fascinated the audience and made a conquest of fans' hearts, which is how Milena became a constant part of Bulgarian rock scene.
In the late 90-s, when Milena came back from Britain, where she lived and worked for a couple of years, she made an extremely successful tour in more than 40 cities of Bulgaria. She was at that time already the acknowledged queen of Bulgarian rock.
