Hejira - Celebrating Joni Mitchell: a 7-piece band celebrating the greatest music of Joni Mitchell. Comprising highly experienced, world-class musicians whose primary concern is to serve the music, this band fully captures the poetry, passion and beauty of Mitchell’s masterpieces.
Hejira have been touring extensively throughout 2025 and will be performing at the Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath, Birmingham on Sunday 7 December 2025.

Brilliant from start to finish, a solid re-imagining of some favourite JM tracks from Hejira (and some others) inspired by the Shadows and Light live album. The band play as a tight unit, each able to divert from the set in ways comfortable to the others and it feels like they have played forever together. I am a lifelong Joni fan but this band made converts of all five people I took along with me. A must see whether you are a JM fan or new to her music, a great evening.

Hejira Celebrating Joni Biography
‘Hejira’ is an outstanding 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell, mostly from the late ‘70s. Having released the albums ‘Court And Spark’ ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’ and ‘Hejira’, Joni toured briefly in 1979 with a band formed from the crème de la crème of contemporaneous musicians (Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays, Michael Brecker, Jaco Pastorius and Don Alias). The tour was recorded, producing the much-lauded live album, ‘Shadows And Light’; it is from these works that the band Hejira is drawing the spirit and body of its repertoire.
Hejira comprises highly experienced, world-class musicians whose primary concern is to serve the music. They have been touring extensively throughout 2025, performing songs that are beautiful, exciting and, as always with Joni, totally touching in the poignancy of the lyrics. Hejira captivate the audience with their impeccable musicianship, and through experiencing live the music of, arguably, the greatest singer-songwriter of the 20th century.
