Ariádne Biography

Ariádne, the former lead singer of the nu-soul band Mamilah, is excited to announce the release of her debut solo EP, Traces, on May 30, 2025. Produced by Ed Allen, Traces is a lush, soulful project that blends elements of Greek Rebetiko, Soul, R&B, Dub, and Dance Music, taking Ariádne’s songwriting in a more experimental direction.

Earlier singles from the EP, ‘Traces’ (January 31) and ‘Two Halves’ (February 28), have already gained attention on BBC Radio, with airplay on prominent shows:

BBC Radio 6 Music: Featured on The BBC Introducing Mixtape with Emily Pilbeam, who described ‘Traces’ as “sensational.”

BBC Introducing Sussex & Surrey: Included as BBC Intro Track of the Day by Melita Dennett, who praised the track for its “really unusual sound.”

Alfred Afari from The Pit London blog (February 21, 2025) wrote:
“Ariádne’s soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics are a beautiful tribute to the people who shape our stories... Traces proves her solo journey is just as exciting as her work with Mamilah.”

Mamilah was formed in 2017 while Ariádne and her bandmates were studying at Leeds College of Music. The band, described by Clash Magazine as one of the pioneering groups in the Leeds underground jazz scene, released three EPs over four years. Mamilah’s debut EP ‘Moonlight Walking’, independently released in 2018, followed their first single ‘Sun Drips’ and was included by Chaka V. Grier in his “Best Soul of August 2018”. Tracks from the EP enjoying regular airtime on Alan Raw’s ‘BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire’, and the band was highlighted as one of his ‘ones to watch in 2019.’

Their debut EP, Moonlight Walking (2018), was followed by Talk Less (2020) and Old Parade (2022). The band enjoyed regular airtime on BBC Introducing, Jazz FM, and other notable platforms. Mamilah has toured extensively across the UK, sharing stages with KOKOROKO, Kool & The Gang, Yazmin Lacey, Galaxians, and Craig Charles.
