As a hopeless romantic and overthinker at heart, Ava Ashlynn makes for the perfect poet. She finds profound meaning in the mundane, uncovering silver linings in both the joys and challenges of life through her music. Raised in Austin, Texas, before moving to New York at age eighteen to study at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, she’s forging her own path in the “indie-dream-folk” genre of her making. “Recess” is the first single from Ashlynn’s upcoming EP, rooted in bittersweet memories of childhood, from the loss of her mother at age seventeen to grappling with the start of adulthood.
