About this concert
Grammy winner Cedric Burnside brings the raw, hypnotic groove of Hill Country Blues to the stage with Hill Country Love, the follow-up to his 2021 Grammy-winning album I Be Trying. Recorded in just two days in a repurposed wooden building in Ripley, Mississippi, the album blends rock, R&B, and hip-hop with deep Mississippi roots. “A little more upfront and direct,” Burnside says, Hill Country Love reflects on family, faith, and life’s curveballs. “The juke joint was my church, and the juke joint was my school.” A recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship and the 2024 Mississippi Governor’s Arts Award, Burnside carries on the tradition of his grandfather, blues legend R.L. Burnside, while carving his own modern path. Known for his intense, soulful performances, Burnside’s music honors the past while pushing the Hill Country sound forward. Don’t miss a night of music straight from the heart of Mississippi.

This was an intimate concert in a nice venue with not too many people. I'm a fan of the Mississippi Hill Country blues and Cedric is of course one of the main representatives of the genre, walking in the foot steps of his "big daddy".
To me, it was a pleasant 90 minutes of music. I appreciated the venue and the sound as well as Cedric taking time after the show for a meet and greet.
I had hoped though that Cedric would also play some drums.
