Retratos

RETRATOS Ensemble brings together some of Melbourne’s finest exponents of Brazilian music. The group explores the rich tapestry of sounds and colours found in the music while focussing on a contemporary and original approach to the compositions and group improvisations. The music moves from the Samba and Choro music of Rio de Janeiro in the south, to the street and carnival music of Brazils north eastern regions, where the Forro, Baiao and Frevo rhythms rule.
