AEG PRESENTS FRANCE ET OCTOPUS PRESENTENT : GOLDLINKGoldLink, de son vrai nom D'Anthony Carlos, est un rappeur américain prodigieux dont l’ascension fulgurante reflète l’effervescence créative du hip-hop contemporain. Né en 1993 à Washington D.C., il puise aussi bien dans le jazz, le rap que la musique électronique, forgeant un univers singulier qu’il baptise future bounce : un savant mélange de hip-hop, R&B, house et sonorités globales. Il dévoile sa première mixtape The God Complex en 2014, qui attire rapidement l’attention des critiques. En 2017, son premier album studio At What Cost le propulse sur la scène internationale grâce au tube “Crew”, nommé aux Grammy Awards. Il enchaîne ensuite avec Diaspora (2019), un disque riche et ambitieux qui explore des territoires afrobeat, R&B et électroniques, confirmant sa position d’artiste visionnaire. Son parcours est marqué par des collaborations avec les figures les plus audacieuses de la scène actuelle, de Kaytranada à Anderson .Paak en passant par Tyler, The Creator et Flume. Performance was class, Goldlink really knows how to entertain a crowd, the whole crowd was enjoying it, even the ones in the area above the stage. Only Criticism is that he didn’t do the whole Diaspora album, but the whole thing was really good and I would definitely go again. The Venue also suited Goldlink’s performance really well.

Where the intersections of the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) collide, GoldLink is a direct product. Washington, D.C., and the broader DMV area, have long been treated like a musical Rubik's cube. There are bursting, Technicolor patches of musical brilliance, but the component parts never line up in a way that made sense to those on the outside. GoldLink is not interested in spelling out all the nuances of his hometown; what he does aim to do is synthesize his environment's litany of influences and inspirations into something unique, singular, and all together his own.
With his debut studio album At What Cost (Squaaash Club/RCA)--helmed by the monstrous single "Crew"--released in March 2017, he's done just that. By merging the sensibilities of go-go with the African diaspora, he's done what hip-hop has done from its inception: repurpose what's available into something magical.
The success of At What Cost and now Triple Platinum single "Crew" saw GoldLink achieve a number of career firsts in the past few months -- from his Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration to the iHeartMedia Music Awards nomination for Best New Hip-Hop Artist to his BET Awards nomination for Best New Artist.
