The Tulips Biography
The Tulips are a psychfolk indie rock band, borne from the MacArthur Park area by downtown L.A., home to the ghosts of 1920's Hollywood. The Tulips bring an ethereal facet to their style of music. Their sound is layered with hypnotic melodies, beautiful harmonies and is blanketed with dreamy organs. The vibe is reminiscent of the 60's but delivered from outer space, with swirling reverberated guitars, and a moving, percussive rhythm section. You might hear the sound of the mountains high above the cityscape, echoes of the ocean and the natural world in the underlying feel of the music. That's not to overshadow the well structured and pensive songwriting by the group, which takes cues from artists with roots that go deep into the old folk movement. However inspiration for their songwriting comesfrom everywhere. Their new record, Echo Blue, was recorded in an eclectic array of places, including the basement of an old historic hotel and an ornate cathedral church, giving their record a unique and special collection of sounds. Echo Blue will be available soon. Full-length Echo Blue out now!
