Laguna Largo Biography
Laguna Largo originally surfaced in 2016 as a collaborative duo project between vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Doug Tuck and percussionist/producer Hank Armstrong. Unified by a shared love for sonic exploration, they wrote, recorded, produced, and released two independent EP's and their debut LP "Coalescence" in 2020 between several DIY home studios in Bellingham, WA.
In 2021, the project expanded to a four-piece band for live performances, with the addition of long-time friends and likeminded creatives Christian McGovern on synthesizers/keyboards and Grayson Padgham-Walker on bass/vocals. Not long after, the band welcomed guitarist and trusted collaborator Conor Oprins, and slowly began to take on a new identity, with an emphasis on a fully-collaborative creative process rooted in improvisation and experimentation. For the past two years, they have continued honing an ever-evolving live show while developing and recording their second LP.
At its core, the band has always existed in a perpetual state of change and remains unbound to any specific genre or style, allowing the sound to blossom outwards in a psychedelic direction while simultaneously leaning into the unique palette brought forth by the distinctive influences of each individual member. Through this eclectic and fluid approach, Laguna Largo creates music that evokes a sense of catharsis; conjuring colorful, dreamlike arrangements that transport the listener to strangely familiar yet otherworldly destinations.
