Mélanie Pain Biography
Mélanie Pain has been the iconic voice of Nouvelle Vague for the past 20 years, all the while building a unique solo career that blends pop, folk, and intimate poetry.
After three critically acclaimed albums renowned for their delicacy, she is back with "How and Why", a luminous and stripped-back fourth album.
Rooted in raw folk, the album brings acoustic guitar and voice to the forefront — stripped of frills, intimate and direct. That unmistakable voice: soft, deep, and effortlessly elegant.
Recorded live with her longtime bandmates, it draws inspiration from Kings of Convenience, Iron & Wine and Emilíana Torrini.
Nine tracks in English, weaving between emotion, melancholy, and rebirth, including an hypnotic duet with Brian Lopez (Calexico) and a sensual cover of Turkish rock band Duman.
A soothing, sunlit album, the perfect setting for Mélanie’s voice and words.
On tour starting September 2025.
