Miro Herak Biography
Acclaimed vibraphonist and composer Miro Herak spent his formative years in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he held a prominent position in the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. A pivotal moment in Miro's musical journey came when he discovered his passion for jazz and improvisation. This led to a Master's degree in Jazz Vibraphone from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where he still resides and has built a distinguished career as a versatile performer, composer, and dedicated educator.
The winner of first prize at the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition, the Pim Jacobs Muziek Prijs, and a recipient of the Eddy Sanchez Award in 2005, Miro is in demand internationally as a solo artist and also' the creative force behind several award-winning musical ventures. His group, AsGuests, has earned recognition for its innovative musical approach, while the multi-genre ensemble The Hague Ethospheric Orchestra has highlighted his commitment to pushing artistic boundaries. His recent projects, KuVenda, Atlantic Road Trip, and the Herak/Bulatkin Quartet, further cement his position on a global stage.
His ability to navigate various musical landscapes seamlessly has made him a sought-after presence internationally.
In addition to his thriving performance career, Miro shares his passion and knowledge as a faculty member at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where he teaches jazz vibraphone and leads ensemble classes, inspiring the next generation of musicians.
