Ana Tijoux is a prominent Chilean hip-hop artist known for her politically charged lyrics. Born in France in 1977 to Chilean exiles, her music reflects themes of resistance, feminism, and social justice. Tijoux gained recognition with the hip-hop group Makiza in the late '90s and solidified her solo career with the album 1977, which earned international acclaim. Her work often merges hip-hop with Latin American folk, addressing issues like gender violence and political oppression. In 2024, she released VIDA, her first album in a decade, celebrating life while addressing global struggles. Throughout her career, Tijoux has received multiple Grammy nominations and won a Latin Grammy, establishing herself as a leading voice in Latin American music and activism.
