Origins and Early Life
Juice Lord emerged from the vibrant Rondo neighborhood in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Raised by older parents who instilled strong values of respect, love, and community, Juice grew up in a nurturing environment beyond his immediate family, helping "raise a village."
Artistic Awakening
As a youth, Juice excelled in English, developing a passion for poetry while harboring dreams of sports stardom. His artistic journey took a significant turn in high school when he joined Penumbra Theatre's summer institute program. This experience opened his eyes to social injustices and ignited his passion for activism through art.
From Poetry to Hip-Hop
Juice's poetic prowess flourished, with pieces like "Dear Juvenile System" and "Cut From a Different Cloth" earning him recognition in poetry slam championships. On November 30, 2013, inspired by his experiences, Juice transitioned into music. He honed his skills at Blue Nile open mics and even performed in Brooklyn, NY.
Breaking Through
A pivotal moment came during the 2015 Soundset weekend when Juice freestyled on Sway In the Morning, capturing the city's attention. This bold move set him on a path to become a leading voice in Minnesota's burgeoning hip-hop scene.
Rising Star
Juice Lord's talent has earned him opening slots for industry heavyweights like Saba, Freddie Gibbs, Jay Electronica, and Conway The Machine. He's also graced stages at unofficial SXSW showcases in Austin, expanding his national presence that would lead to a nationwide tour with Prof in 2023.
