Uncle Johns Band Biography
Uncle John's Band was formed in 1989 in Clearwater Florida by a group of talented musicians who love to play the music of the Grateful Dead.
UJB has played thousands of hours of Grateful Dead music from Chicago to Key West, but mostly centered around their home base of Tampa Bay Florida. Their 30+ year reign as unofficial house band at Tampa's legendary Skippers Smokehouse is part of the fabric of the thriving Tampa Bay music scene. UJB currently plays multiple shows each week around Tampa Bay, with a weekly residency at Bayboro Brewery in St Pete.
Over the years, UJB has enjoyed regular appearances on the Florida music festival circuit (Gasparilla Music Fest, Magnolia Fest, Magnolia Ball, Orange Blossom Jamboree, Home Team Rally to name a few) but thrives on stretching out on 2 or 3 extended sets during a typical evening show. UJB has been recognized as one of the top three Grateful Dead tribute bands in the U.S., and regularly receives Creative Loafing's Best of the Bay award in the Jam Band category.
To quote a song: "Anyone who sweats like that must be alright." We hope to see you at a show soon.
