Following the success of her critically acclaimed 2023 album Version Girl, Rhoda Dakar returns with Version Girl In Dub a deep, immersive journey into the heart of her signature interpretations, stripped down and reconstructed in classic dub style.
Rhoda Dakar started her career in 1979 as the lead vocalist with 2-Tone Records group The Bodysnatchers. The band hit the charts with a cover of the Dandy Livingstone classic Let's Do Rock Steady. The Bodysnatchers toured with The Specials, Toots and the Maytals, and The Selecter before splitting in 1980.
Rhoda Dakar joined The Specials for the More Specials and In The Studio albums and co-wrote the seminal Free Nelson Mandela single.

Great show from an excellent artist, I have been a fan of Rhoda since the early days of the Bodysnatchers and it was ace to see her up close, there was a good mix of old and new songs which kept all the attendees happy, and Rhoda was really friendly when meeting fans after the show, posing for photos and signing all items not just the new album which was a nice surprise as many other artists seem to just sign the new release to promote sales but Rhoda was not like that and signed six items for me along with her new album, me and my wife travelled to Newcastle for this event as we have missed her earlier shows in Scotland due to work and we were really glad we did as it was amazing to actually meet Rhoda in person and see her live up close and it was a really enjoyable show

Rhoda Dakar Biography
Rhoda Dakar began her musical career as lead vocalist with all female 2Tone band,
The Bodysnatchers in 1979. She went on to record with The Specials, The Special AKA and Madness, along with her solo work. She has 7 gold albums and 2 silver covering these and other recording projects. As a collaborator, Rhoda has worked on singles with the Dub Pistols and US Ska Punk heroes The Interrupters, alongside Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. Rhoda tours with a five piece backing band and regularly receives rave reviews across the board. In fact Louder Than War describe her as a ”goddamn national treasure”. Also a respected DJ, she has toured with UB40, The Selecter and The Specials. She has also written sleevenotes for Trojan Records and the late Terry Hall.
